Dr. Apparao Dekka is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Lakehead University, Canada. He holds a B.Tech. from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, an M.Tech. from IIT Bombay, and a Ph.D. from Ryerson University. His research focuses on high-power converters, medium-voltage drives, renewable energy systems, and electrified transportation. He has published over 75 peer-reviewed papers and authored/co-authored a Wiley-IEEE book on Modular Multilevel Converters.
Dr. Dekka has held roles as a Research Engineer at Khalifa University (2010–2012), Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Ryerson University (2017–2019), and Research Associate at McMaster University (2017–2019). His awards include the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics Outstanding Reviewer Award (2022, 2015), the IET Electric Power Applications Premium Award (2019), and the 2023 Lakehead University Teaching Award.
