Apostolos Milionis

Apostolos Milionis is a Professor in the Department of Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus. He holds a diploma from the University of Patras and a PhD from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), with extensive industry experience in R&D and technical leadership roles. His academic career spans over two decades at the University of Piraeus, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

• PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering (NTUA, 1999)

His research focuses on Distributed and Embedded Systems, Intelligent and Pervasive Systems, and Telecommunication and Real-Time Systems. He has led major projects like ESA SATWAYS and INNO-TTN, developed internationally applied ATM software, and published over 90 papers in these domains. As Scientific Director of the MANTO and KALLIPOS+ projects, he pioneers digital companion technologies for autonomous navigation.

Scientific awards include:

• Bodossaki Foundation Scholarship for doctoral research

He actively evaluates national research programs and participates in academic recruitment initiatives, contributing to the department's reputation as one of Greece's top-ranked Economics departments in the Shanghai Ranking.
