Aparna Parikh is an Assistant Teaching Professor at The Pennsylvania State University, affiliated with the Department of Asian Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her research focuses on gendered urban environmental belonging in South Asian cities, particularly Mumbai. She investigates themes such as neoliberal urbanism, feminist methodologies, and the intersections of environment, gender, and political economy. Parikh collaborates on projects addressing urban climates and critical visual methods.
Research Interests: Urban Studies, Gender Studies, Environmental Studies, South Asian Studies, Feminist Geography, and Critical Theory. Her work critiques authoritarian vegetarianism in India and explores housing challenges through feminist lenses.
Selected Contributions: Parikh’s publications appear in Gender, Place and Culture, cultural geographies, ACME, and Environment and Planning series. She co-authored chapters in Suffragette City and The Routledge Companion to Modernity, Space and Gender.
