About
Prof. Anupama B. Kaul is the PACCAR Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas, Denton. She leads the Nanoscale Materials and Devices Laboratory (NMDL), focusing on interdisciplinary research in 2D layered materials and nanoscale devices.
Her research spans three core areas:
- Solution-based and vapor-based synthesis of nanomaterials
- Characterization of electronic, optoelectronic, and strain-dependent properties
- Device applications in flexible electronics, sensors, solar cells, biosensing, and quantum photonics
Recent work highlights scalable fabrication techniques like ink-jet and 3D printing for graphene and MoS2 heterostructures. Applications include high-power flexible resistors, biocompatible photodetectors for macular degeneration, and quantum emitters in van der Waals solids.
NMDL employs advanced tools such as cryogenic probe stages, ultra-low-noise instrumentation, and material printers for additive manufacturing on flexible substrates. Collaborative efforts integrate 2D materials with organic matrices for composites and strain sensors.
