Antonio Acín

Dr. Antonio Acín is an ICREA Research Professor and Group Leader at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) in Castelldefels, Barcelona. He holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona (2001), a Physics degree from UB, and a Telecommunication Engineering degree from UPC. After post-doctoral work in Geneva with Prof. Gisin, he joined ICFO in 2003 to lead the Quantum Information Theory group.

His research spans quantum information, quantum thermodynamics, and many-body physics, supported by four European Research Council grants: Starting, Proof of Concept, Consolidator, and Advanced (2020). His 2016 AXA Chair further highlights his contributions to quantum information science.
