Anthony Rivera

Anthony Rivera is an Assistant Teaching Professor at Santa Clara University's Department of Music, serving as conductor and music director of the Santa Clara University Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland, alongside degrees from Peabody Conservatory and University of Central Florida.

His career combines professional conducting with music education. Key roles include guest conducting for the U.S. Coast Guard Band, directing UMD's Wind Orchestra and Opera Studio in a semi-staged Mozart adaptation, and leading educational initiatives. He has commissioned new works from composer David Faleris, including the award-winning 'Of Chivalry and Valor.'

Rivera's teaching spans K-12 and university levels, including part-time instruction at San Jose High School. He received multiple recognitions for revitalizing music programs, including Teacher of the Year (2012) and state legislative citations. His advocacy for youth band repertoire has driven collaborations with composers and ensembles nationwide.
