Anthony Reale

Anthony Reale is an Adjunct Professor in the Visual Development faculty at the College for Creative Studies (CCS), where he also earned his BFA in Product Design in 2010. His work bridges design and emerging technologies, with a strong emphasis on innovation in smart environments and sustainable systems.

His research interests include:

• Internet of Things (IoT)
• Smart Cities and Smart Eco Systems
• 3D Modeling and Materials Innovation
• Biomimicry and Kinetic Design
• Sustainable Product Development

His acclaimed senior project, Strait Power, a shark-inspired kinetic water turbine, continues to inform his research and design philosophy. He has professional experience from SPX Corporation, where he secured six U.S. patents and brought over 600 designs to production.

His recent publications explore biomimicry and nature-derived energy systems, reflecting a consistent theme of drawing inspiration from biological forms to solve engineering and design challenges. These works trend toward interdisciplinary innovation, combining biology, design, and sustainable technology.

He has consulted on major Smart City installations, including a 32-foot decorative cellular tower at Eastern Michigan University, demonstrating his ability to scale design concepts into public infrastructure.

Anthony Reale is actively engaged in design practice, education, and consultation, contributing to the evolution of intelligent and ecologically responsive design systems.
