Anthony Pinto

Anthony Pinto is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science within the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering at the University of West Florida (UWF), where he has been a faculty member since 2002. He serves as the Program Coordinator for the BS in Cyber Security program and teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering.

His educational background includes an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of West Florida. He served 20 years on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, bringing substantial real-world experience in business software development and cyber security to his academic role.

Anthony Pinto's research and professional interests focus on cyber security, ransomware, penetration testing, software design, interactive teaching methods, and web and database integration. He has led key initiatives in cybersecurity education, including coordinating UWF’s successful designation as a NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Education.

His publication on ransomware evolution reflects ongoing research in cyber threat analysis and future challenges in digital security. The work demonstrates his engagement with emerging threats and pedagogical approaches in cybersecurity training.

He is actively involved in student development and outreach, serving as a mentor for Cyber Patriot and Cyberthon, Facility Advisor for the UWF Cyber Security team, and coach for the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.

His professional training includes advanced certifications such as Wireshark Advanced Network Analysis, Blackhat Certification in Hacking by the Numbers Bootcamp and BlackOps, pen testing with Kali Linux, Locking Down Linux, and Adaptive Red Team tactics, underscoring his hands-on technical expertise.
