Anthony Martin is Professor of Practice at Emory University, where he coordinates the Honors Program. Trained in geology and paleontology, he specializes in ichnology—the study of modern and fossil traces. His discoveries include the only known burrowing dinosaur, the oldest dinosaur burrows, and the oldest Australian bird tracks. Martin was elected Fellow of The Explorers Club and Geological Society of America in 2015.
His research investigates ecosystem interactions across spatiotemporal scales through trace fossil analysis. Martin leads undergraduate projects on Georgia barrier island trace fossils and contributes to the Georgia Coast Atlas digital scholarship initiative. His publications advance understanding of trace fossils in environments ranging from Cretaceous polar regions to modern coastal systems.
