About
Anthony Letai is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. His research focuses on understanding how cancer cells evade apoptosis and leveraging this knowledge to develop targeted therapies. His lab invented the BH3 profiling assay, which identifies cancer cell dependency on anti-apoptotic proteins like BCL-2 and predicts therapeutic responses.
- Education: MD and PhD from the University of Chicago (PhD advised by Elaine Fuchs).
- Clinical Training: Internal Medicine residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital; Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
- Postdoctoral Research: With Stanley Korsmeyer at Dana-Farber, studying apoptosis and BCL-2 family proteins.
Research interests include:
- Biomarkers for cancer therapy response
- Mechanisms of apoptosis resistance in tumors
- Translational applications of BH3 profiling
- Molecular determinants of chemotherapy sensitivity
His lab actively explores clinical utility of BH3 profiling as a predictive tool for cancer treatment strategies.
