Anthony Kicic

Anthony Kicic is an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Western Australia, affiliated with the UWA Medical School and the UWA Centre for Child Health Research. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals targeting health and well-being. He holds dual appointments with The Kids Research Institute Australia.

Research focuses on airway immunology, cystic fibrosis, asthma pathogenesis, bacteriophage biology, and antimicrobial resistance mechanisms. Key projects include investigating rhinovirus-host interactions and developing therapies for drug-resistant pathogens like Acinetobacter baumannii.

Recent publications span bacteriophage genomics, epithelial repair mechanisms, and novel antimicrobial therapies. His work has been cited over 4,600 times with an h-index of 35.

Recipient of the 2021 Channel 7 Telethon Grant for contributions to chronic otitis media research. Active in securing grants including a 2024-2025 project targeting bacterial modification in childhood respiratory disease prevention. Supervised 14 research projects across multiple disciplines.
