Anthony J. Ryan

Professor Anthony J. Ryan, OBE, is the Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Sheffield and Founding Director of the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures. His research focuses on sustainable polymers, renewable energy, and the food-water-energy nexus. He leads sustainability initiatives integrating science, engineering, and social sciences. Ryan has held roles including Pro Vice Chancellor of the Faculty of Science (2008–2016) and Head of Chemistry. Educated at the University of Manchester (BSc, PhD) and UMIST (DSc), he has over 300 publications and co-authored influential books like The Solar Revolution.
