Anthony Gorst

Anthony Gorst is a Senior Tutor and Course Leader for the BA History and Politics program at the University of Westminster's Department of Social and Historical Studies. He joined the university in 1989 and previously served as a visiting Lecturer at the London School of Economics (LSE) and the Polytechnic of Central London. His expertise spans British foreign and defense policies in the 20th century, with a focus on Cold War military strategy, the Suez Crisis, and the Royal Navy's role in the 'East of Suez' policy during the 1960s.

Teaching responsibilities include modules on British foreign policy, Victorian London, historiography, decolonization, and Cold War diplomacy. He leads archival research and dissertation supervision at the undergraduate level.

Research interests emphasize British imperial strategy and military decision-making in the modern era. He is affiliated with the History Research Group and actively contributes to scholarly discussions on 20th-century international history.
