Associate Professor Anthony Brien is a faculty member in the Department of Global Value Chains and Trade at Lincoln University, New Zealand. With extensive experience in both academia and industry, he serves as Programme Director for the Bachelor of Commerce, Hotel and Tourism Management Major at Lincoln University since 2002. He previously held the position of Head of Department in 2020. His international collaborations span Dubai, England, and Australia, focusing on Human Capital strategies across diverse economic and cultural contexts.
Dr. Brien's educational background includes a PhD from Lincoln University, an MSc in Management from Sheffield Hallam University, and a Diploma in Teaching from Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality since 2008 and holds additional certifications including membership in the Tourism Industry Association Aotearoa and JP status with the Royal Federation of New Zealand Justices of the Peace.
His research bridges academic theory with practical application in tourism and hospitality, with special emphasis on Human Capital strategic management and change management. Dr. Brien explores the vital connections between workforce capabilities, organizational strategy, and business productivity, delivering actionable insights to industry stakeholders.
