Anthony Bertelli

Anthony Bertelli holds the Sherwin-Whitmore Chair of Liberal Arts at Penn State, with joint appointments in Political Science and Public Policy. His research examines how institutional designs condition policy outcomes in democratic systems, particularly through public-private partnerships and bureaucratic accountability mechanisms.

Major works include Democracy Administered (Cambridge, 2021) analyzing administrative discretion's role in representative government, and Partnership Communities (Cambridge, 2021) on infrastructure governance. Recent experimental studies test responsibility attribution in hybrid governance models.
