Anthony Bass

Anthony Bass, Ph.D., is a Teaching Faculty & Clinical Consultant at New York University, affiliated with the Relational Track. He earned his B.A. from New College (1972), M.A. from Harvard University (1973), and M.S., M.Phil., Ph.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University (1979, 1980, 1983). He also holds a Psychoanalytic Certificate from NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis (1989).

His research focuses on therapeutic communication, countertransference management, and the adaptation of psychoanalytic frameworks to modern clinical contexts. Publications from 1992–2011 demonstrate sustained engagement with relational psychoanalysis, structural theory, and clinical innovation.
