Ante Uglešić

Full Professor of Archaeology at the University of Zadar's Faculty of Philosophy, Department of Archaeology, holding a permanent position since 1989. Teaches Introduction to Medieval Archaeology, Archaeology of Migrations, and Early Medieval Settlements across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Serves as visiting professor at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, University of Zagreb, and University of Mostar.

Research focuses on Medieval Archaeology with specialization in Migration Period studies, Early Medieval cemeteries, and architectural heritage from the 5th-17th centuries. Key projects include Archaeology of the Migration of Peoples in the Eastern Adriatic (2002-2007) and Medieval Archaeological Heritage of Southern Croatia (2007-2014), with significant fieldwork in northern Dalmatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo.

Recipient of prestigious awards including the Austrian Grand Golden Medal of Merit and Zadar County Scientific Award. Editorial leadership includes Editor-in-Chief of Archaeologia Adriatica and board membership for 10+ journals including Radovi Filozofskog fakulteta u Zadru and Vjesnik za arheologiju i historiju dalmatinsku.

Directed 7 major research projects including EU-funded Kosovo church excavations and bioarchaeological database development. Mentors doctoral candidates at University of Zagreb while teaching at Zadar's Higher Theological School.
