Dr. Ansje van Beusekom is an Assistant Professor in Media and Performance Studies at Utrecht University's Humanities Institute for Cultural Inquiry. She specializes in the history of Dutch film reception, cinema culture, and intersections between film and art. Since 2001, she has combined teaching in media studies programs with prolific research on early cinema, film exhibition practices, and cultural histories of media. Her work bridges art history and film studies, often focusing on understudied figures like Asta Nielsen and Elisabeth de Roos. She has held editorial roles and participated in international conferences, contributing to global scholarship on silent cinema and media historiography.
