Annette Stride

Annette Stride is a Reader at the Carnegie School of Sport, Leeds Beckett University, specializing in social justice and equity within Physical Education (PE), sport, and physical activity contexts. She leads the Identities and (In)equalities theme at the Centre for Social Justice in Sport and Society and oversees its Public Engagement and Knowledge Exchange programme.

• Research Focus: Intersectionality of gender, ethnicity, disability, and sexuality in sport/PE participation.
• Collaborations: British Council, Football Association, Women in Sport, Sportscoach UK, and Women’s Sports and Fitness Foundation.
• Teaching: Delivers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Physical Education and Youth Sport.

Her work emphasizes innovative research methods and partnerships to drive social impact, including frameworks like ‘Anchors of Belonging’ and projects like ‘Beyond the physical’ and the GiVER project. She co-convenes the Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy Special Interest Group (British Educational Research Association) and contributes to academic/practitioner textbooks and journals.
