Annette R. Hofmann

Prof. Dr Annette R. Hofmann serves as President of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) since August 2025, having previously held the role of Vice-President. Her distinguished academic career centers on sport and culture, sport history, and sport pedagogy, with extensive international collaboration through organizations including the International Society for the History of Physical Education and Sport (ISHPES).

Her research explores the cultural, historical, and educational dimensions of sport, with growing emphasis on contemporary challenges such as digitalisation, artificial intelligence applications in physical education, health promotion, sustainability frameworks, and diversity initiatives. She prioritizes interdisciplinary approaches to address evolving global dynamics in sport science.

As ICSSPE President, Hofmann focuses on enhancing the organization's global visibility, forging strategic partnerships, and preparing for its 70th anniversary in 2028. She emphasizes collective action across committees and member organizations to advance sport science innovation, stating that real progress depends on unified community efforts toward creating an 'inspiring, dynamic, and reliable organisation that fosters global collaboration.'
