Annette Naudin is an Associate Professor and Academic Lead for Teaching Excellence and Student Experience at the College of English and Media, Birmingham City University. She co-leads CEDIA, a research cluster addressing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in the arts. Her work bridges academia and practice, focusing on cultural workers, entrepreneurial experiences, and policy impacts.
Education: PhD in Cultural Policy Studies from the University of Warwick (2015). Prior to academia, she ran a textile design business and consulted for creative industries, including Arts Council England and local authorities.
Research Interests: Cultural entrepreneurship, gender equality, creative industries, EDI in arts, and higher education pedagogy. Recent projects include the Gender Equality: 40 Years On! exhibition and oral history podcasts with Dr Siobhán Stevenson, and collaborations with Birmingham City Council and Arts Connect.
Grants & Partnerships: Works with national and regional organizations like Craftspace and the West Midlands Leadership Commission. Research focuses on migrant communities, craft entrepreneurship, and social innovation spaces like Impact Hub Birmingham.
Labs/Teams: Active in CEDIA and interdisciplinary collaborations across Birmingham City University’s research themes, particularly Equitable Societies and Creative Cultures.
