Annette Bruchfeld is a Visiting Professor of Inflammatory Kidney Diseases at Karolinska Institutet’s Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology since January 2021. She also holds a primary position as Professor of Renal Medicine at Linköping University and serves as a Consultant at Linköping University Hospital.

She leads clinical trials for low-toxicity immunosuppressants to replace conventional therapies and investigates vagus nerve stimulation as an anti-inflammatory intervention for kidney disease.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bruchfeld contributed as both a researcher and clinician, studying the vulnerability of kidney disease patients and advocating for their prioritization in vaccination programs.
