Anne Steinhoff

Dr Anne Steinhoff is a Lecturer in Accounting at the Essex Business School, University of Essex, since October 2022. She teaches Debates in Public, Social and Environmental Accounting and International Management Accounting, while also offering workshops on community-based organizing such as Democracy in Action.

Her research bridges management accounting, healthcare, and post-structuralist discourse theory. Key areas include:

• Workplace accommodation for chronic illness (celiac disease)
• Alternative accountabilities in voluntary sector
• Radical democratic organizing
• Social return on investment analysis

Publications span Critical Perspectives on Accounting and Sociology of Health and Illness, with recent work examining pandemic-era accountability practices and health condition impacts on performance measures. She supervises PhD candidates in accounting and finance.
