Anne Shiu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Texas A&M University, specializing in algebraic, geometric, and combinatorial approaches to mathematical biology.
Her research focuses on biochemical reaction networks, neural coding, and parameter identifiability. She investigates questions such as: What conditions make a reaction network multistationary? Which neural codes are convex? How can linear compartmental models be rendered identifiable?
Shiu was a member of the Nonlinear Algebra group at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI MiS) from 2017 to 2022. During her visit in July 2018, she presented her work on "Steady-state parametrizations for chemical reaction networks" and collaborated with institute members.
