Anne Johnson

Anne Johnson serves as Associate Professor and Academic Coordinator of First Year Science within the Department of Chemistry and Biology at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she bridges educational leadership with disciplinary expertise in chemistry and biology.

Her academic foundation includes a BSc from the University of Toronto (1992) and PhD from the University of British Columbia (1998), establishing her credentials in chemical sciences before pivoting to educational research.

Dr. Johnson's research program centers on Chemical Education and Discipline Based Educational Research (DBER), investigating innovative teaching strategies, curriculum effectiveness, and student cognition in chemistry learning environments. This work directly informs her development of evidence-based pedagogical approaches for undergraduate science education.

She actively contributes to the chemistry community through memberships in the American Chemical Society and Chemical Institute of Canada, participating in national dialogues on science education standards and practices.
