Dr. Anne Jeffrey is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Baylor University, Affiliate Professor of Medical Humanities at Baylor University, and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine. She earned a PhD in Philosophy from Georgetown University, followed by a postdoctoral research role at the University of Notre Dame. Her research spans metaethics, normative ethics, and moral psychology, with a focus on virtue theory, patience studies, and interdisciplinary ethics. She has led major grants including the $4.7M Templeton-funded 'Patience in Adversity' project and co-led the 'Testing Patience' initiative. Her work integrates ancient philosophy with modern ethical frameworks, addressing topics like bioethics, political theory, and theological inquiry.
Her educational background includes studies in biochemistry and music composition before transitioning to philosophy. She has held faculty positions at the University of South Alabama and Baylor University, developing bioethics curricula for medical students. She advises the Baylor Bioethics Bowl team and has organized national competitions. Her teaching spans ethics, political philosophy, and biomedical ethics, emphasizing critical reasoning and respectful dialogue.
Dr. Jeffrey’s research projects include exploring patience in adversity, virtue promotion in youth, and transdisciplinary collaboration. She has co-authored influential works such as *God and Morality* (Cambridge, 2019) and a forthcoming monograph *Being and Becoming Good* (Oxford).
