Anne Forbes is an Honorary Associate Professor at the Macquarie School of Education, Faculty of Arts, Macquarie University. Her expertise lies in STEM education, primary science pedagogy, and teacher professional development. She leads initiatives such as MyScience, an award-winning program enhancing primary science teaching and learning, and contributed to IBM's Global AI Curriculum Framework for schools.
Her academic journey includes a PhD in Primary Science Education (Southern Cross University, 2014), MScAgr in Plant Pathology (University of Sydney, 1985), and a BEd from the University of Technology Sydney (1998). She has authored influential textbooks, including STEM Education in the Primary School: A Teacher’s Toolkit (2021, EPAA Award winner) and Science Education in the Primary School: A Teacher’s Toolkit (2023).
Research interests focus on culturally responsive early STEM education, inquiry-based learning, and advancing teacher capabilities through professional development. Notable projects include editing the 2023 volume Developing Culturally and Developmentally Appropriate Early STEM Learning Experiences, exploring global best practices in early STEM.
