Anne Etienne is Lecturer in Modern and Contemporary Drama at University College Cork's Department of English. She holds a PhD from University of Orléans (1999) with expertise in 20th-century British drama and censorship.
Her research examines theatre censorship mechanisms across Europe, the works of playwright Arnold Wesker, and contemporary Irish theatre. Recent projects investigate censorship evolution post-1989 and the cultural impact of the X certificate in British cinema.
She received research fellowships including from Harry Ransom Center and Villum Foundation. Her publications include edited volumes on theatre censorship and Wesker's legacy. She coordinates postgraduate programs and teaches drama courses.
