About
Dr. Anne-Catherine Raby is a Lecturer at the School of Medicine, Cardiff University, affiliated with the Welsh Heart Research Institute (WHRI) and the Welsh Kidney Research Unit (WKRU). Her research focuses on Toll-like receptors (TLRs) in inflammation, particularly their roles in infection clearance, sterile injury resolution, and chronic disease pathologies.
- TLR signaling mechanisms in sepsis and peritoneal dialysis
- Development of soluble TLR2 therapeutics
- Inflammatory links between chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular disease
Her recent work explores TLR-based strategies to prevent secondary infections in sepsis patients and peritoneal membrane fibrosis in dialysis patients. She has published extensively on TLR2/TLR4 roles in vascular pathology and DAMP-driven inflammation. Key collaborators include teams at WHRI and WKRU, with in vivo demonstrations of soluble TLR2 efficacy.
Publications since 2008 highlight her expertise in TLR immunomodulation, bacterial ligand recognition, and complement system interactions. Notable themes include fibrosis prevention, sepsis biomarkers, and single-cell omics in atherosclerosis research.
