Annalisa Buffa is a Professor of Mathematics at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) since 2016. She previously served as Research Director and Director of the Instituto di Matematica Applicata e Tecnologie Informatiche at the Italian National Research Council (CNR). Her research focuses on the numerical analysis of partial differential equations (PDEs), geometric design, computational mechanics, computational electromagnetics, approximation theory, and functional analysis.
Her work spans isogeometric analysis, adaptive methods, and domain simplification techniques. Recent publications highlight advancements in mass lumping, defeaturing, and reduced order modeling for complex geometries and lattice structures.
