Anna Whitelock

Anna Whitelock is Professor of the History of Monarchy and Director of the Centre for the Study of Modern Monarchy at City, University of London. As a historian, author, and broadcaster, she serves as an international media commentator on monarchy and Tudor-Stuart history. She leads the AHRC-funded project The Visible Crown: Queen Elizabeth II in the Caribbean: 1952-present, examining postcolonial monarchy.

Her research focuses on:

• Reinterpretation of royal authority and political power
• Gender dynamics in early modern courts
• Public engagement with historical narratives
• Cultural heritage of monarchical institutions

Publications demonstrate extensive analysis of power structures, with monographs translated internationally. Recent work explores global imperial ambitions through James I's unification policies.
