Anna Urowitz-Freudenstein

Dr. Anna Urowitz-Freudenstein is Head of the Department of Jewish Thought at TanenbaumCHAT in Toronto, where she teaches courses on Rabbinic Literature, Jewish Philosophy, and a specialized course she developed titled 'Gender and Judaism.' She holds a Ph.D. in Midrash and an M.A. in Ancient Judaism from the Jewish Theological Seminary, with her dissertation focusing on Midrashic texts about individual women. She has contributed to The Torah: A Women's Commentary and teaches adult education classes in the community alongside her institutional role.

Her research explores the intersection of gender, textual interpretation, and rabbinic literature, emphasizing the representation of women in classical Jewish texts. She maintains an active role in community education, extending her academic work beyond the classroom.
