Anna Turnage

Anna Turnage serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies, Media and Journalism at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, where she has been a faculty member since 2010.

Her academic background includes a BA in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1989), followed by eight years in newspaper journalism and nine years in public relations prior to pursuing graduate studies. She earned her MA in Organizational Communication (2006) and PhD in Communication, Rhetoric and Digital Media (2010) from North Carolina State University, with a dissertation analyzing Enron email communications through metaphor to examine power-resistance dynamics.

Dr. Turnage's research spans rhetorical criticism, organizational communication, communication ethics, and philosophy/theory of communication technology, focusing on discourse analysis in organizational contexts. Her scholarship appears in leading journals including The International Journal of Business Communication and The Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, with notable work on metaphor analysis in corporate discourse.

She actively contributes to the field through regular peer review for communication journals and presentations at major conferences such as the National Communication Association and Rhetoric Society of America.
