Anna Silvas is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at UNE’s School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, specializing in Classical/Semitic linguistics, Patristics, and Cappadocian theology. She holds a PhD (UNE), MA Hons (University of Melbourne), and BA (University of Sydney).
Her research focuses on fourth-century Christian texts, including critical editions of Basil of Caesarea and Gregory of Nyssa. Major publications include translations of monastic rules and studies on Syriac manuscript traditions.
Recent work examines the transmission of Basilian letters across Latin and Syriac traditions. Awards include an ARC Research Fellowship (2007-2012) and election to the Australian Academy of Humanities. She has examined postgraduate theses on early Christian literature.
