
About
Anna Sartori-Rupp is an Expert Research Engineer at the NanoImaging Core Facility of the Institut Pasteur (since 2022). Previously, she worked as a Research Engineer at the Ultrastructural BioImaging Unit (2007-2022) and as a Visiting Scientist at the LBME lab (Toulouse, 2014-2016). She completed postdoctoral fellowships at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (Munich, 2004-2007) and Institut Curie (Paris, 2001-2004), following her PhD in Mathematical Physics at Imperial College London (1998-2001).

Research Interests focus on technological development for cryo-correlative light and electron microscopy (cryo-CLEM), enabling 3D imaging of cellular systems. Her work bridges structural biology and host-pathogen interactions, with key contributions to super-resolution cryo-CLEM pipelines and cryo-FIB for lamellae preparation. She collaborates extensively with labs studying neuronal tunneling nanotubes (Zurzolo), HIV-1 envelope conformations (Sansonetti), and bacterial cell envelope evolution (Gribaldo).
Scientific Contributions include:
- Developing the first cryo-CLEM method to visualize actin organization in neuronal tunneling nanotubes
- Pioneering 3D cryo-CLEM workflows at Institut Pasteur's advanced facilities (Titan Krios, Aquilos2 cryo-FIB)
- Organizing the IPEMtomo image processing courses (2021-2025)
