Anna Rose Alexander

Anna Rose Alexander is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at California State University, East Bay. Her research focuses on public history, Latin American history, urban development, and environmental hazards. She earned a B.A. from CSU Chico, an M.A. in Latin American Studies, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Arizona. Her award-winning book City on Fire (2016) examines fire-related social and technological transformations in Mexico City during the late 19th century. She is currently co-editing Problems in Modern Latin American History (5th ed., 2019) and researching a 1984 petroleum explosion in San Juanico. Alexander teaches courses on public history, sustainability, and Latin America.
