Anna Rastopchina is a Lecturer in Piano and Piano Accompanist at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), where she teaches piano to BEd pupils and accompanies conducting classes. She also teaches at RCS Junior Conservatoire, Douglas Academy, and The Glasgow Academy. Her career spans performance, pedagogy, and composition.
Education: She graduated with an Honours diploma from the St Petersburg (Leningrad) State Conservatoire, specializing as a concert pianist, chamber musician, and teacher. Early training included studies at the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College and a St Petersburg Music School.
Performance & Awards: Anna was a soloist with the Leningrad Chamber Philharmonia and performed Rachmaninov’s “Rhapsody on the Theme of Paganini.” She has performed internationally in Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, and the UK. Her awards include the 1987 West of Russia competition prize and the 2015 Brewster Carnegie trophy for composing a Strathspey in Scottish traditional style.
Teaching & Roles: Since 1997, she has taught at RCS (senior and junior levels), Douglas Academy, and The Glasgow Academy. She adjudicated the Tony and Tanya Webster Piano Prize (2014) and Beethoven Competition (2015). For 14 years, she was an official accompanist for the Ayrshire Music Festival.
