Anna Prentiss is a distinguished Professor at the University of Montana, where she has held the position of Assistant Professor since 1995. In 2018, she was honored as the University of Montana’s 12th Regents Professor. Her research focuses on the ancient histories of Indigenous peoples in the Pacific Northwest, Rocky Mountains, and Arctic regions of North America. A key collaboration with the Xwísten (Bridge River Indian Band) has yielded significant insights into village demographics, subsistence practices, social change, and Fur Trade dynamics. She served as editor of the SAA Archaeological Record (2013–2019) and currently co-edits Hunter-Gatherer Research, the journal of the International Society for Hunter-Gatherer Research.
