Dr. Anna Pechurina is an Associate Professor in Sociology at Karlstad University's Department of Social and Psychological Studies. Her research focuses on identity, migration, material culture, and international higher education. Current projects include studying migrant aging in Sweden/Japan with digital tech (funded by Vinnova) and the COLECO Erasmus+ project on collaborative economies.
Education: PhD in Sociology from University of Manchester.
Research Interests: She explores how material objects (e.g., household items, food) mediate cultural identity and belonging among diasporic communities. Recent work examines Airbnb's impact on homemaking, post-Soviet migration patterns, and pandemic effects on short-term rentals.
