Anna Melnyk is a Postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in the Ethics & Philosophy of Technology section at Delft University of Technology's Faculty of Technology, Policy & Management. She actively contributes to academic research while teaching Climate Ethics to engineering students at TU Delft.
Her research focuses on values, value change, and value conflicts at the intersection of ethics and philosophy of technology, climate ethics, agent-based modelling, social psychology, and energy transition studies. She is an integral member of the TPM Energy Transition Lab, where she explores moral dilemmas and value conflicts in energy transitions. Her work combines theoretical philosophical approaches with practical applications in sustainability challenges.
Dr. Melnyk completed her PhD as part of the ERC Advanced Grant project "Design for Changing Values in Socio-Technical Systems," demonstrating her expertise in navigating complex value landscapes within technological contexts. Her research methodology bridges multiple disciplines to address pressing issues in technology ethics.
Her scholarly contributions appear in respected journals including Energy Research and Social Science and Science, Technology, and Human Values, where she examines the ethical dimensions of energy transitions and socio-technical systems. Her work consistently addresses how values shape and are shaped by technological developments, particularly in sustainability contexts.
As an educator, she brings these complex ethical considerations to engineering students, helping future technologists understand the moral dimensions of their work. She is actively engaged with the 4TU.Ethics community, contributing to interdisciplinary knowledge exchange across technical, ethical, and policy domains.
