Anna Lisa Furfaro

Anna Lisa Furfaro is an Associate Professor at the University of Genoa, affiliated with the Department of Experimental Medicine - DIMES under the School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She teaches Clinical Pathology and Applied Research Methodology across multiple degree programs including Medicine, Pharmacy, and Biomedical Laboratory Techniques.

• Teaches Clinical Pathology in 6+ degree courses (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, etc.)
• Member of the Joint Teacher-Student Commission

Her research focuses on:

• Molecular mechanisms of oxidative stress in disease pathogenesis
• Role of heme oxygenase-1 in tumor immunity
• Cardiovascular pathophysiology involving aryl hydrocarbon receptors
• VE-cadherin processing in endothelial dysfunction

Recent publications highlight expertise in biomarker discovery for atherosclerosis, cancer immune escape mechanisms, and uremic toxin effects on cardiac cells. She maintains an active research program with interdisciplinary applications in both clinical and molecular pathology.
