Dr. Anna Koch is a DAAD Lecturer at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES), University College London. She specializes in twentieth-century European history, focusing on displacement, exile, and return narratives. Before joining UCL, she taught European and Jewish history at the University of Southampton and the University of Leeds. Her research has been supported by the British Academy, European Holocaust Research Infrastructure, Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, and the Social Science Research Council.
She has held fellowships at the Centre for Jewish History (New York), German Historical Institute (Rome), and Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah (Paris). Since 2021, she has been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Her research interests intersect with Holocaust Studies, migration histories, and the cultural dimensions of forced migration. Key themes include post-war return movements, Jewish diasporas, and transnational memory politics.
