About
Anna Hayden is a second-year Ph.D. student and Graduate Instructor in the University Writing Program at the University of Notre Dame, within the College of Arts and Letters. Her research focuses on alchemy and alchemical writing in relation to early modern women’s autonomy, employing an intersectional framework of race, gender, class, and sexuality. She examines how alchemical poetry, terms, and recipes challenge patriarchal narratives and fill gaps in scholarship on seventeenth-century female writers.
