Anna G. Wenzel

Anna G. Wenzel is a Professor of Chemistry and Natural Sciences Convener at Scripps College, part of the Claremont Colleges. She teaches courses such as First-Semester Organic Chemistry (Chem116L), Advanced Organic Chemistry (Chem123), and a 'Bench-to-Bedside' course on Medicinal Chemistry and Business (Chem81L).

Her research focuses on Asymmetric Catalysis, Organometallic Chemistry, and Organic Synthesis, with a particular emphasis on developing catalytic methods for pharmaceutical applications and combating substandard drugs in developing nations via the Distributed Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab (DPAL). She has contributed to green chemistry initiatives, including reactions in water using biodegradable micelles.

Anna's recent publications highlight her work on Brønsted acid-catalyzed Claisen reactions (2024), UPLC-MS pharmaceutical analysis (2023), silver-catalyzed amine formylation (2020), and gold-catalyzed ether synthesis (2015). Her career spans 2003 to present, with over 15 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
