Anna Davis-Abel is a full-time faculty member in the Department of English at the University of Alabama, specializing in Creative Writing and Literature. She holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from West Virginia University (2020) and a BA in English from the University of Alabama (2016), complemented by certifications in University Pedagogy and Women’s and Gender Studies. Her teaching spans first-year writing courses, advanced creative writing workshops, and literature modules including American Resistance Literature and Feminist Writers by Wave.
Her research interests focus on memoir, Southern literature, and gender studies with a particular emphasis on strong female narratives. Notable publications include The Writer’s Chronicle, Hippocampus, and Booth. She has received awards such as the AWP Intro Award (2019) and the West Virginia Arts Council Grant (2020).
Anna’s community engagement includes leading creative writing workshops at the Montgomery Women’s Facility and founding WVU’s Students Demand Action chapter. She also coordinates the Pure Products Reading Series at the University of Alabama.
