Anna Broinowski is a Walkley-winning Senior Lecturer at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney. She specializes in documentary filmmaking, synthetic media, and North Korean cinema. With a BA from the University of Sydney and PhD from Macquarie University, her work explores political narratives through innovative film techniques.
Her research examines GenAI tools, deepfakes, and hybrid film forms. Recent publications analyze the ethics of synthetic media and gender representation in propaganda films. Broinowski's films have screened globally, winning 3 AFI/AACTAs and the Writers Guild of America Award.

She currently supervises HDR students on South Korean New Wave cinema and directs the 'Deep Listening' podcast project. Grants include Sydney Social Sciences Huddle Grant and Screen Australia productions.
