Anna Borkowicz

Anna Borkowicz is a Professor at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk and holds additional teaching roles at institutions like the W. Lutosławski Academy of Music in Starogard Gdański. She earned her habilitation in musical arts in 2013 and received the title of Professor of Art in 2021.

• Education: PhD in Pedagogy (1998), Doctor of Musical Arts (1999), postdoctoral degree in Rhythmics and Dance (2013).
• Primary Roles: Head of the Department of Rhythmics and Piano Improvisation since 2020, former Head of the Department of Rhythmics (2007–2012).

Her research interests span choral conducting, rhythmics, Dalcroze eurhythmics, and movement composition of contemporary music. She has published extensively on the intersection of music education, movement interpretation, and cultural management, emphasizing the role of rhythmics in enhancing pedagogical practices and therapeutic applications.

The articles she has authored focus on 20th-century Polish compositions, sonoristic timbres, and interdisciplinary approaches in music education. Her work often integrates folk traditions and modern methodologies like the Dalcroze system to innovate teaching and artistic performance.

Notable scientific awards include the Sopot Music Award for Young Artists (2011), City of Gdańsk Award (2018), and the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Special Award (2018). She has also received multiple Rector’s Awards for her contributions to music education.

As a lecturer, she has taught at institutions such as the State Higher Vocational School in Elbląg and the Feliks Nowowiejski State Music School in Gdynia. She actively promotes the Dalcroze method through workshops and community concerts, including participation in the Baltic Science Festival and the Polish Academy of Children.
