Dr Anna Barrett is a Senior Technical Advisor for the One Health Unit at the Nossal Institute for Global Health, University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on One Health, Health Equity, and Infectious Diseases. She holds an MPsych/PhD from the University of Melbourne and has 15+ years of experience across UN agencies, NGOs, and academic organizations. Her work spans global health, child protection, humanitarian coordination, and climate resilience.
Anna co-leads postgraduate subjects on Pandemic Preparedness and One Health Implementation. Current projects include the CCHALKK initiative addressing climate impacts on livestock keepers' health in Kyrgyzstan. Her expertise includes MEAL systems, community engagement, and program management across Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East.
Her research interests emphasize interdisciplinary solutions to global health challenges, especially for vulnerable populations. Recent studies explore child trauma recovery, family communication after injury, and mental health disparities linked to pubertal development.
