Ann Mattis

Ann Mattis is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, affiliated with the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Her work spans the Department of English, Humanities, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She specializes in American literature and culture, focusing on feminist and materialist analyses of labor, class, and identity.

Her recent publications include essays on domestic service in modern narratives, intersectional pedagogy in teaching women's writing, and critiques of feminist self-branding in celebrity culture. Her 2019 book Dirty Work examines domestic labor in Progressive-Era women’s fiction.

Ann’s scholarly work bridges literary analysis with cultural studies, emphasizing the socio-political dimensions of domesticity, gendered labor, and humor. She actively contributes to feminist and interdisciplinary discourse through her teaching and research.
