Ann-Marie McCormack

Ann-Marie McCormack is a Senior Lecturer at Bath Spa University within the Bath School of Art, Film and Media and the School of Writing, Publishing and the Humanities. Her roles include teaching short film production, scriptwriting, and documentary filmmaking, while maintaining an active professional practice in film and podcast creation.

Education

Her research focuses on creative practice, particularly short film production, documentary storytelling, and podcasting, supported by HEQR Research Funding. She explores intersections between independent filmmaking, screenwriting, and audio-visual communication in diverse cultural contexts.

Recent outputs include the award-winning short film No Blacks No Irish No Regrets (2024), which serves as a proof-of-concept for a TV series and screened at international festivals across the USA, Canada, India, Turkey, and the UK. Earlier works like Tell Me About... (2018) and Hot in here (2018) demonstrate her expertise in short-form drama and innovative storytelling.

McCormack co-hosts and produces the travel podcast Parents Gap Year, alongside her role as a radio presenter and audio technician at BCfm’s Real Women Show. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and member of the Writers Guild of Ireland and British Equity.
